I am a hybrid author, both self-published and traditionally published, and I am sharing my secrets with you!
Hello beautiful students.
First, what you should know about me in regard to this course and perhaps why you should take a course from me, is that I am a published author, both Indy and Traditionally, and have been writing for over thirty years. I have a unique perspective because I have seen the industry be Traditional Publishing only, where we sent out hard copy manuscripts media snail mail, with a self-addressed stamped envelope, and patiently waited for a letter back to accept or « PASS » on our manuscript. I have seen a time when the murmurs of self-publishing began, and experienced how terrible it was in the infancy stage, and the threats from Traditional Publishers that if you are Self-Published, you will « Never be published or be a « REAL » writer and author. »
Flash forward today, there are many Best-Selling Authors from their kindle and print books, expansive marketing options to get self-published books seen and in the hands of readers by selling directly to readers. Communities were formed of pure readers to harness the power of exposure and removing the power of traditional publishers to threaten authors, when they are busy rejecting them in most cases. I share my personal stories of going through all of this and how it felt before today’s wonderful world of opportunities of self-publishing, so much so that a term was phrased to give self-Published authors a term to be proud of; « Indy Author. »
