This is an introductory course that will provide the learner with a basic understanding of how to better prepare Construction Documents. This course was developed by a Construction Manager who has been working in the Design and Construction Industries for over 30 years. His personal experiences will help demonstrate how to better prepare Contract Documents and how to better deal with changes.
The course is divided into several lectures which include, Lecture 01 – Course Introduction, Lecture 02 – Contract Documents, Lecture 03 – Conflicts in Contract Documents, Lecture 04 – Misunderstood Terms, Misused Terms and Misused Symbols, Lecture 05 – Recommendations & Pet Peeves, Lecture 06 – CADD Recommendations, and Lecture 07 – Conclusion.
In this course, you will learn about the “Lego Analogy”, some key Contract Document components, what the Project Resource Manual: CSI Manual of Practice is and how it can improve your design, there difference between the General Requirements vs General Conditions, what is the Contract Documents Rule of Thumb, what are the Specifications “Four C’s”, what is the Order of Precedence, how to address Conflicts between Documents, what are some Unenforceable and Unbiddable Terms, what are some Lessons Learned, what are the different types of Contract Drawings, what is the Basis of most Construction Claims, what are some Misused and Misunderstood Terms, and Misused Symbols, what are some Proper use of Terms, what is some Better Specification Language, review some Recommendations & Pet Peeves, and review some CAD Recommendations.
